With our presenter, attorney Jeff Fritz of Fisher Phillips, we will review the new state laws and regulations affecting Massachusetts employers that were recently enacted or recently went into effect, including:
- Recently enacted laws on minimum wage, premium pay, and paid family and medical leave, passed by the legislature as part of the “Grand Bargain”, which we previously covered in Bulletin #31/2018;
- The Massachusetts Pay Equity Act, which went into effect on July 1, 2018;
- The Massachusetts Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which went into effect on April 1, 2018; and
- Other pertinent legal topics as requested by the audience;
The enforcement of wage/hour laws continues to challenge Massachusetts dealers. In order to assist our member dealers, we administer our Legal and OSHA Compliance Assistance Program, which includes employment law compliance in conjunction with the law firm of Fisher Phillips. Our employment law compliance program is designed to encourage our members to review their pay plans, employee handbooks, and employment application, and to undertake a management training audit.
